Job Summary:

We are looking for a skilled and safety-oriented Metal Saw Operator to join our fabrication team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating various metal-cutting saws to cut raw metal stock (including steel, aluminum, and alloys) to precise specifications. The ideal candidate will have experience in a manufacturing or metal fabrication environment and a strong focus on accuracy, quality, and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate metal-cutting saws such as band saws and chop saws to cut bar, tube, angle, and plate stock to specified lengths and tolerances.
• Review work orders, blueprints, or cut lists to determine job requirements.
• Measure and mark material before cutting to ensure accurate dimensions.
• Select appropriate saw blades and adjust machine settings (speed, feed rate, angles) based on material type and size.
• Load and secure metal stock on saws using clamps, vices, or fixtures.
• Inspect cut pieces to verify conformance to specifications using measuring tools such as tape measures, calipers, and squares.
• Perform basic maintenance and blade changes to keep equipment in optimal condition.
• Monitor machine operation and address issues such as blade wear or material shifting.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Follow all safety protocols, including the use of PPE (gloves, goggles, steel-toe boots, etc.).
• Assist with material handling, inventory management, and other shop duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred.
• 1 years of experience operating metal saws in a manufacturing or fabrication environment preferred.
• Strong understanding of measurement tools and basic math skills.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and cut sheets.
• Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
• Familiarity with safe handling of metal materials and shop equipment.
• Forklift operation experience or certification is a plus.
• Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team.

Work Environment:

• Industrial/fabrication shop setting with exposure to noise, metal shavings, lubricants, and varying temperatures.
• Requires use of PPE and adherence to strict safety standards.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $18.00 per hour
