POSITION SUMMARY:
Manage OEM warranty risks through part reviews, submission of 8D problem solving reports and communication with Hi-Lex Engineering community concerning new and emerging field failures. Perform root cause analysis through testing and recreation; with data driven evidence, dispute warranty debits from OEMs to minimize costs and maintain positive scorecard ratings.
KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review and analyze warranty returns at customer location.
- Provides initial determination if part is defective along with potential causes.
- Issues Lab Work Order with detailed plan to capture part non-conformances.
- Document warranty events through writing of reports including internal Problem Solving and Customer requested documents. Submissions require adherence to OEM timing and a high level of accuracy to avoid escalation.
- Works with Product Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer and Quality to develop appropriate countermeasures including Immediate Corrective Action and Permanent Corrective Action.
- Monitors effectiveness of countermeasures.
- Supports Warranty Review meetings with customers.
- Prepares presentations for customers and internally as required.
- Scan social media for trends in the field
Education
- 2 year degree in Engineering Technology; 4 year degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
- 3-5 years experience in design, testing or manufacturing electro mechanical systems.
Functional Experience
- Knowledge of customer quality tools/systems (EsupplierConnect, GM SupplyPower, Covisint, etc…)
- Knowledge of door systems, window regulators and automotive cables.
- Mechanical aptitude preferred
Industry Experience
- 3-5 years experience working within OEM warranty systems.
- Dealer Technician / Mechanic experience desired.
- Experience with Door Systems / Automotive Cables preferred.
