Job Summary
Up to $12,500 Sign-On bonus based on experience
Shift: Days, 7:00am to 5:30pm
Hours: 10

Assists with quality patient care in an operating room setting.
Responsibilities
1. Knowledge in principles of surgical nursing and aseptic technique. Able to collect, interpret, record and communicate pertinent data and assist in any surgical treatments relevant to the patient’s care in surgery.
2. Ability to provide a safe environment for patients requiring surgical procedures. Conducts job duties in accordance with established hospital policy and safety/sanitation standards.
3. Demonstrate proficiency in scrubbing and circulating for surgical procedures.
4. Ability to assemble all necessary instruments, supplies, equipment and drugs used in the operating groom.
5. Provides instruction to patients entering the surgical suite. Explains procedures to patients thoroughly, provides assistance when necessary, monitors patients’ comfort and alleviates anxiety during procedures.
6. Demonstrates ability to supervise ancillary staff in the management of the surgical suite. Able to direct transportation of the patient, management of supplies and cleaning of OR suite through ancillary staff as necessary.
7. Participates in QI activities for the surgical suite.
8. Maintains certifications/licenses required without prompting or intervention
9. Demonstrates competence in the care of infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients (when /if assigned to these patients) relative to determining each patient’s age-related and other physical, psychological and cultural needs and carrying patient care activities.
Qualifications
Physical demands:
- Moderate physical effort (lift/carry up to 25 pounds
- Occasional prolonged standing/walking
- Occasionally lifts supplies/equipment
- Occasional reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching
Working Conditions:
- Contact with patients under wide variety of circumstances
- Regularly exposed to the risk of blood borne diseases
- Occasional exposure to unpleasant patient or unit elements
Minimum Education/Certification/Experience:
- Associate’s Degree
- 1 year experience as a Medical/Surgical nurse
- Current California RN
- Current CPR
