Job Description

At Hilo Benioff Medical Center, a nationally-recognized "Top Performing" hospital, Pharmacy Aides and Pharmacy Technician are valuable members of our Pharmacy team. We are currently seeking a Pharmacy Aide for our busy Pharmacy department. This position is responsible for assisting a Pharmacist in providing pharmaceutical services in accordance with established procedures and methods and performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

PREREQUISITE QUALIFICATIONS FOR PHARMACY AIDE ENTRY LEVEL: No work experience required. Basic spoken and written English; personal hygiene and bodily care. Ability to read, write, speak and understand simple sentences in English; follow oral and written instructions precisely; get along well with others; acquire and demonstrate an attitude of respect toward others; assist in providing assistance to Pharmacists; and the ability to perform basic arithmetic computations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).

PREREQUISITE QUALIFICATIONS FOR PHARMACY AIDE FULL PERFORMANCE: In addition to the qualifications required at the entry level. Experience and Essential Knowledge and Abilities: One (1) year of work experience in a hospital or other medically oriented institution, which provided the applicant with knowledge of working in a Pharmacy Department. The work experience must have demonstrated knowledge of prepackaged medications; maintaining accurate inventory records; applicable hospital/unit policies and procedures; and the ability to provide pharmaceutical support services in accordance with established procedures and methods; maintain records and prepare reports; and communicate effectively orally and in writing

CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:

1. Basic Life Support (BLS) in Health Care Provider (adult, child and infant) must be obtained within six (6) months of employment. Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) in Health Care Provider (adult, child and infant) is preferred. Please submit copy of certification with the application.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to learn quickly; be a "team player" and get along well with others; be self-motivated; use a computer to enter and retrieve data; good memory; and be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Pre-Employment Health Requirements

Offers of employment will be contingent on successfully passing a pre-employment examination, which includes a drug screen and other regulatory medical requirements such as, but not limited to, a tuberculosis (TB) screen. The cost for drug screening and blood draw for QuantiFERON and Titers, shall be borne by the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation.
