Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Junior Systems Analyst to join our dynamic healthcare IT team. The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting the build, maintenance, and optimization of our Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
The Junior Systems Analyst works closely with clinical, provider, billing, and operational teams to review workflows, identify system improvements, and implement Epic configuration changes that support efficiency and maintain system integrity.
Location: This is an on-site position located in Hilo, Hawai’i.
Key Responsibilities:
Epic Implementation:
- Assist with the implementation of the Epic applications and associated (non-Epic) EHR applications as assigned
- Participate in system design, configuration, and testing to ensure EHR applications meet clinical and operational needs.
- Collaborate with Epic representatives, IT staff, clinicians, physicians, and leadership as part of implementation efforts.
System Analysis and Support:
- Apply systems analysis techniques to evaluate clinical and operational workflows.
- Analyze system functionality and workflow requirements to identify configuration enhancements.
- Troubleshoot and help with resolving technical issues related to Epic applications.
- Perform regular system maintenance, updates, and upgrades.
Training and Documentation:
- Assist in developing and delivering Epic training materials and end-user support resources.
- Provide application guidance and support to end-users regarding Epic functionality.
- Create and maintain system documentation, including configurations, workflows, and training guides.
- Generate reports to monitor system performance and identify opportunities.
Project Support:
- Participate in project planning, implementation, and post-implementation support activities.
- Support cross-functional teams to help ensure project tasks and milestones are completed on time.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts related to system enhancements and project workflows.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, including HIPAA and other data protection standards.
- Support system security practices designed to protect patient information.
Compliance and Security:
- Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders to support system initiatives.
- Participate in meetings, workgroups, and committees as assigned.
- Work with providers to develop and revise Epic workflows and ordering processes.
System Optimization:
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to understand workflows and system requirements.
- Assist in identifying opportunities, analyze system functionality, and recommend configuration enhancements to improve performance and usability.
- Support initiatives aimed at improving efficiency and quality of patient care.
- Participate in post-implementation reviews and optimization initiatives.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders to support system initiatives.
- Participate in meetings, workgroups, and committees as assigned.
- Work with providers to develop and revise Epic workflows and ordering processes.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Communications, Computer Science, Information Technology, Healthcare Informatics, or a related field.
- Epic certification is required for this position. Candidates who are not certified at the time of hire will be supported in obtaining certification through an employer-sponsored training agreement.

Working Conditions, Physical Requirements, and Availability
- Position will be required to travel to East Hawaii Region facilities and will be subject to long hours and irregular schedules.
- Applicants must be able to work in a variety of environments, and able to adapt to an array of physical surroundings.
- Must be able to participate in on-call rotation and respond to system or training support needs as required.
- Must be willing and able to work weekends, evenings, nights, and holidays as operational needs dictate, including during Epic go-lives, upgrades, and critical support periods.

Pre-Employment Health Requirements
Offers of employment will be contingent on successfully passing a pre-employment examination, which includes a drug screen and other regulatory medical requirements such as, but not limited to, a tuberculosis (TB) screen. The cost for drug screening and blood draw for QuantiFERON and Titers, shall be borne by the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation.
