HGA is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our Shreveport, Louisiana office, supporting mechanical engineering services for industrial projects across wood products, pulp and paper, specialty chemicals, chemical manufacturing/refining, and oil & gas markets. This position is intended for a junior to mid-level engineer who will contribute across multiple phases of project execution, including engineering design, coordination with designers and other disciplines, and support of procurement and construction activities. The role offers broad exposure to industrial engineering projects and close collaboration with experienced engineers and project manageme nt.

Key Responsibilities
- Support development of mechanical designs during conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design phases.
- Perform engineering calculations such as hydraulic sizing, equipment sizing, line sizing, and basic stress or wall thickness checks under supervision.
- Develop and update mechanical design documents including drawings, specifications, data sheets, and material take offs.
- Collaborate with Designers on 3D modeling and drawing development.
- Assist with preparation of equipment specifications, inquiry packages, technical bid reviews, and vendor data review.
- Support procurement and construction activities, including review of shop drawings, RFIs, and as built documentation.
- Participate in site visits to support equipment layout, constructability reviews, and understanding of facility operations.
- Coordinate with mechanical leads, project management, and multi discipline team members to support schedule and scope requirements.
- Participate in internal design reviews and multi discipline checks.
- Learn and apply company engineering standards, procedures, and quality expectations.
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited university.
- Approximately 2-7 years of experience in mechanical or industrial engineering design.
- Working knowledge of mechanical engineering fundamentals, design practices, and applicable codes and standards.
- Exposure to PFDs, P&IDs, and industrial piping systems.
- Experience or interest in industrial facilities such as wood products, pulp and paper, specialty chemicals, chemical manufacturing, or oil & gas.
- Authorization to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship.
- Experience in a consulting or EPC engineering environment.
- Familiarity with tools such as AutoCAD, CADWorx, Bluebeam, CAESAR II, PIPE FLO, AFT, or similar engineering software.
- Progress toward Professional Engineering licensure or willingness to pursue licensure.
- Ability to work primarily from the Shreveport, LA office
