Summer 2027 - Structural Engineering Internship Opportunity at HGA!
Locations: Minneapolis, MN; Milwaukee, WI; and Boston, MA or Washington, DC
Begin to build your future at HGA! We have an excellent opportunity for a college or graduate school student for a paid summer internship in summer of 2027. The summer internship is typically 12 weeks in length beginning on or before June 1, 2027, through mid-August (depending on your schedule).

What you'll do:
As a Structural Engineering Intern, you'll gain exposure to a wide variety of engineering experiences, including:
- Gain exposure to a variety of structural engineering projects and professional experiences.
- Perform structural engineering calculations and assist with the design of building systems.
- Research building code requirements and technical design considerations.
- Analyze reports, drawings, specifications, testing results, and other project data.
- Utilize structural analysis and design software to support project work.
- Collaborate with engineers and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Participate in site visits and construction observations to better understand project execution.
What you'll bring:
- Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architectural Engineering or Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- Currently in your junior year or above of an undergraduate program or enrolled in a graduate program.
- Knowledge of structural analysis software.
- Understanding of steel and reinforced concrete design principles.
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Interest in collaborative, sustainable, and innovative design solutions.
Salary Information:
The pay range listed aligns to the geography of the office for which this position is posted. Actual compensation will be based upon work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Individuals in this role working more than 24 hours a week on a regular basis are eligible to participate in HGA's robust benefit programs which include an annual bonus and success sharing bonus program, 401(k) guaranteed contribution, paid parental leave, medical, dental and life insurance plans as well as PTO and short- and long-term disability programs. Hourly Rate: $24.00/hour - $25/hour (Mid-West) and $29/hour (Boston or Washington, DC).
