What are the responsibilities and job description for the Administrator position at HG Careers?
We are seeking a decisive and compassionate Administrator to oversee the daily clinical and operational functions of our inpatient behavioral health unit. This is not a standard hospital admin role—you must thrive in a dynamic environment where patient safety, de-escalation, and regulatory readiness change by the minute.
Salary: $140k-$150k
You will lead a multidisciplinary team (nurses, techs, therapists) dedicated to stabilizing patients experiencing acute psychiatric crises, including [e.g., major depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and co-occurring substance use disorders].
Key Responsibilities
-
Operations & Safety: Manage patient flow, bed utilization, and unit safety protocols. Ensure adherence to restraint/seclusion reduction goals and suicide prevention standards.
-
Regulatory Compliance: Maintain continuous survey readiness for CMS, The Joint Commission (TJC), and state behavioral health licensing. Lead root cause analyses for any sentinel events or elopement risks.
-
Staff Leadership: Recruit, mentor, and schedule nursing and mental health technician staff. Facilitate daily huddles and weekly treatment team meetings.
-
Crisis Management: Serve as the on-site incident command during patient aggression, medical emergencies, or staff injuries.
-
Budget & Metrics: Monitor OT costs, supply chain for psych-safe materials, and outcome metrics (length of stay, readmission rates).
Who You Are
-
You understand that in psych, "behaviors are data." You don't take aggression personally, and you coach staff to do the same.
-
You can walk into a seclusion room and calmly direct a team, then sit down to complete a CMS audit an hour later.
-
You know how to balance clinical risk management with the dignity of the patient.
