Responsibilities
- Ensure continued compliance with environmental and safety laws and regulations.
- Verify that the location's environmental standards conform to the requirements of ISO 14001 and HEXPOL's Management System.
- Lead Environmental, Health and Safety program initiatives to promote and enhance a safe workplace.
- Communicate with regulatory agencies.
- Conduct routine location inspections to determine the existence of hazards and take measures to correct.
- Provide Associate training (including new hire safety orientation and monthly Environmental, Health and Safety related topics).
- Plan, organize, and moderate the location?s safety committee meetings.
- Investigate all incidents for root cause.
- Work with staff to implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Travel may be required, up to 25% of the time.
- Perform any other project/task as assigned by Management.
- High School Diploma or equivalent, required. Bachelor's Degree in Environmental, Health and Safety, Emergency Management, or related degree, desired. Experience may be considered in lieu of education.
- Five (5) years of environmental, health and safety experience for an industrial company.
- Two (2) years of working with EPA regulations.
- Working knowledge of EPA, DOT, and OSHA Regulations.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong computer/systems skills - MS Office (Excel/Word/PowerPoint/Outlook).
- Solid organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks, meet tight deadlines, and manage a broad range of responsibilities.
- High degree of concentration, attention to detail, high energy, self-motivated and self-reliant.
- Ability to interact well with all personality types.
- Strong cooperation, collaboration, and team-building skills.
- Effective analytical and problem-solving skills with an emphasis on continuous improvement.
