Role Description This is an on-site, contract role based in North Bergen, NJ for a Healthcare Interface & Interoperability Specialist (HL7, FHIR, EMR Integration). The specialist will design, develop, configure, and maintain interfaces between EMR/EHR systems and other clinical or administrative applications using HL7, FHIR, and related healthcare interoperability standards. Day-to-day responsibilities include analyzing integration requirements, mapping data, configuring interface engines, and troubleshooting message flows and connectivity issues. The role involves collaborating closely with clinical, operational, and IT stakeholders to gather requirements, validate workflows, perform testing, and support go-live and post-implementation activities. The specialist will also document integration specifications, monitor interface performance, manage incident resolution, and contribute to ongoing optimization and standardization of interoperability solutions.

Qualifications
- Strong expertise in healthcare interoperability standards, including HL7 v2.x, FHIR, and related messaging or API frameworks.
- Hands-on experience with EMR/EHR integration, interface engines (e.g., Mirth/NextGen Connect, Rhapsody, Cloverleaf, Ensemble), and clinical data exchange.
- Proficiency in data mapping, transformation, and parsing (e.g., XML, JSON, delimited formats) and working with RESTful APIs and web services.
- Solid understanding of healthcare workflows, clinical documentation, orders/results, ADT, and ancillary system integrations.
- Knowledge of healthcare privacy and security requirements (e.g., HIPAA, PHI handling), and best practices for secure data exchange.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex interface and data issues in production environments.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with technical teams, vendors, and clinical stakeholders in a fast-paced setting.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Health Informatics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., HL7, FHIR, health informatics, or major EMR platforms) are a plus
