Herzog Technologies, Inc. is currently seeking a Railroad Signals & Systems Estimator in St. Joseph, MO to join our team.
Duties And Responsibilities
- This is a non-exhaustive overview of the job duties for this position.
- Work in a team environment and with other estimators.
- Participate in job walks, pre-bid meetings, and site visits to gather real-world insights.
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and requirements to develop accurate and competitive estimates for railroad signal and systems components.
- Perform quantity takeoffs for systems elements.
- Develop cost breakdowns and pricing model using historical data, supplier quotes, and production rates.
- Support value engineering efforts and constructability reviews.
- Estimate close-out.
- Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position.
- Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog’s Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 4-year degree in construction related field or equivalent experience preferred.
- 5-10 years estimating or equivalent work experience preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with Bluebeam and HCSS Heavybid is a plus.
- Communicate professionally to all parties both orally and in writing.
- Detail orientated and strong organizational skills.
- Must work well in team environment.
- Approximately 30% travel required.
- Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.
- Subject to pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen.
- Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.

- Must be able to hear and distinguish auditory signals as required by the position.
