Information on the division:
Located in Springfield, the 70 employee facility (100,000 sq. ft.) is one of Héroux-Devtek’s centers of excellence for the manufacturing of medium to large complex landing gear and titanium components.
As part of the Central Division, you will lead P&L responsible for critical machining operations of major commercial aircraft programs such as the Boeing 777 and Embraer E-2, and important military programs such as F-18, F-35, C-17 and C-130.

Summary:
The Quality Engineer supports the Engineering and Operations departments by managing, tracking, and making decisions for parts that are flagged as non-compliant for the machining and production of commercial and military landing gear.
Main responsibilities:
- Manage and track inputs and outputs of Non-Conforming Reports (NCRs) to ensure parts are returned to production expeditiously. i.e., Initiate NCR, approval, customer submittals, RCCA’s and closure.
- Lead, facilitate, and conduct non-conformance investigations (RCCA).
- Manage the movement of parts through Material Review Board (MRB) quarantine.
- NCR data analysis to track trends and issue CAPAs for repeat findings, assign responsibilities, and follow-up for completion.
- Act as MRB Quality representative to review and approve manufacturing plans, technical documentation, and NCR rework plans.
- Support in-house Quality Management System (QMS) and Special Process audit schedule as needed.
- Monitor AS9100 compliance and participate in audits.
- Document and participate in additional audits, such as EH&S, OSHA, etc. as needed.
- Develop and provide quality training to operators, inspectors, or other needs as identified.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Our ideal candidate:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent combination of education/training and experience
- Minimum 3 years’ experience as an engineer in a manufacturing plant
- Experience in Aerospace, nuclear, medical, or other regulated industry preferred
- Demonstrated analytical skills with the ability to work constructively within teams
- Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work within tight timelines
- Strong ability to make quality decisions while remaining customer focused
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, with minimal supervision
