About the Role
Reporting directly to the VP of Finance and the CFO, the Controller will be a key player in our financial operations from our Fort Lauderdale headquarters. This is a hands-on role designed for a fast learner who is highly comfortable with modern technology.
You will oversee our outsourced accounting teams and resources across development and construction, ensuring accurate monthly financials, projections, and standard general contracting accounting functions.
Key Responsibilities
As the Controller, you will produce accurate monthly financials, project-level forecasts, and cash flow projections. A major component of this role involves managing and collaborating with outsourced accounting teams and resources to ensure operational excellence. You will handle core construction accounting duties, including job costing, WIP schedules, progress billing, and percentage-of-completion revenue recognition.
Furthermore, you will leverage construction ERP systems and modern software to streamline processes and improve efficiency. You will work closely with the VP of Finance and CFO to support strategic planning, internal controls, and overall financial health.
Qualifications: Industry Experience: Direct experience working for a General Contractor (not just
subcontractors) with an annual volume of $50M to $200M — required.
Role Experience: 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience. Strong Assistant
Controllers with the right GC background are highly encouraged to apply.
Technical Skills: Highly proficient with modern construction accounting software (e.g.,
Sage, Viewpoint, Procore) and strong Excel skills.
Work Style: Agile and fast-learning; adapts quickly to new technologies and thrives in a
fast-paced environment.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
