The Opportunity
As our COO, you’ll lead three of our core profit centers: Commercial Landscape Maintenance, Commercial Landscape Construction, and Snow & Ice Management. You’ll have overall responsibility for their performance, including P&L ownership, operational execution, customer satisfaction, leadership development, and profitable growth.
You’ll lead through the senior leaders responsible for each area, creating greater alignment, accountability, and consistency across the business.
Working closely with the CEO and executive leadership team, you’ll translate company strategy into results, identify opportunities to improve performance and profitability, and strengthen the people, processes, and structure needed to support continued growth.
What You’ll Lead
Business Performance & Growth
- Own P&L performance across our three commercial profit centers, driving revenue, profitability, and sustainable growth
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, planning, and performance management
- Use financial and operational data to identify opportunities, improve performance, and guide business decisions
- Partner with the CEO and executive leadership team to set strategy, prioritize investments, and execute long-term growth plans
Operational Excellence
- Provide executive oversight of commercial operations, ensuring strong performance across safety, quality, service, and profitability
- Strengthen systems, processes, accountability, and operating discipline across the business
- Remove operational barriers and align people, equipment, technology, and resources with business priorities
- Drive greater consistency, efficiency, and collaboration across all three profit centers
Leadership & Organizational Development
- Lead, develop, and hold senior operational leaders accountable for results
- Build a high-performing leadership team with clear expectations, ownership, and accountability
- Identify talent and organizational needs and develop the leadership structure required for future growth
- Foster a culture of performance, collaboration, and continuous improvement
Customers & Market Leadership
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers and strategic partners
- Partner with sales leadership to pursue opportunities that support profitable, sustainable growth
- Ensure operational performance and customer experience strengthen retention and long-term relationships
- Represent Hermes Landscaping as a senior leader within the company, with customers, and in the marketplace
Who We’re Looking For
We’re looking for a business leader with relevant industry experience—someone who understands the realities of leading a field-based, labor-intensive operation and knows how to lead leaders, manage multiple business units, own a P&L, and drive profitable growth.
The ideal candidate will bring:
- 10 years of progressive leadership experience, including significant senior or executive-level responsibility
- Proven ownership of a multi-million-dollar P&L with demonstrated success improving revenue, profitability, and operational performance
- Experience leading multiple business units, divisions, branches, or profit centers
- Leadership experience within landscaping, construction, snow and ice management, field services, facilities services, or a comparable labor-intensive service industry
- Strong financial and business acumen, including margin management, forecasting, labor productivity, and profitable growth
- A track record of building high-performing teams, developing leaders, and creating accountability
- Experience strengthening organizational structure, systems, and processes to support growth
- Demonstrated success scaling or improving a complex operation
- Strong strategic thinking with the ability to translate strategy into measurable results
- Executive presence and the ability to communicate effectively with employees, customers, leadership, and ownership
