Job Summary:
Herk Edwards, Inc is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented CAD Drafter to join our dynamic construction team in Southern California. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a variety of exciting projects from inception to completion. A thorough understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and California Building Code (CBC) is essential. Experience working with the Division of the State Architect (DSA) and proficiency in AutoCAD and Bluebeam is required.
Responsibilities:
- Develop a strong understanding of DSA processes, including plan review, field inspections, and closeout requirements (if applicable).
- Assist in the preparation of DSA-related documentation and communication
- Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and safety standards, including the California Building Code (CBC).
- Review and interpret project plans, specifications, and contract documents.
- Utilize AutoCAD to create/modify shop drawings, review as-built drawings, and assist with site layout.
- Employ Bluebeam for document control, markup, collaboration, and quantity take-offs.
- Assist Project Management in the planning, execution, and closeout of construction projects.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring milestones are met.
- Assist in the preparation of submittals, RFI's (Requests for Information), and change orders.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and other project stakeholders.
- Monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and propose solutions.
- Maintain accurate project documentation and records.
- Participate in project meetings and provide regular progress updates.
- Assist with quality control inspections and ensure work is performed according to specifications.
- Foster a collaborative and positive working environment on the project site.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- 5 years of experience in the construction industry, preferably in California.
- Proven proficiency in AutoCAD is essential.
- Strong working knowledge of Bluebeam Revu is required.
- Solid understanding of the California Building Code (CBC) is mandatory.
- Experience working with the Division of the State Architect (DSA) on K-12 or other public works projects is highly preferred.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to read and interpret complex construction documents.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project).
- Valid California driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
