Duties
- Develop and implement diverse activity programs that cater to residents’ interests, abilities, and health conditions, including dementia and Alzheimer’s care.
- Coordinate resident events such as social gatherings, outings, arts and crafts sessions, music therapy, and recreational activities.
- Build strong rapport with residents through personalized engagement and attentive communication to enhance their quality of life.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure activities align with individual care plans and safety protocols.
- Manage schedules for daily activities, ensuring timely setup and smooth execution of events.
- Maintain detailed records of resident participation, feedback, and activity outcomes to inform ongoing program improvements.
- Utilize Microsoft Office tools for planning documentation, resident communication logs, and activity reports.
Experience
- Proven experience in event planning within assisted living facilities or nursing homes.
- Prior work in senior care environments with a focus on geriatrics or memory care is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to develop engaging programs for residents with disabilities or cognitive impairments.
- Familiarity with recreational therapy techniques and aging issues counseling enhances effectiveness in this role.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with residents, families, staff, and community partners.
- Experience working with geriatric patients or individuals with dementia is essential for creating meaningful activities.
- Knowledge of long-term care operations, home & community care services, and resident rapport building strategies is advantageous.
