Assistant Controller – Property & Casualty Insurance (REQUIRED)

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to help drive excellence in financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and accounting operations. This is a high-impact leadership role supporting the integrity of our Statutory and US GAAP reporting framework while strengthening internal controls, audit readiness, and operational performance.

What You’ll Do
Lead & Elevate Accounting Operations
- Direct daily accounting and financial reporting activities, including month-end close, balance sheet reviews, and financial statement preparation
- Maintain oversight of the general ledger and overall financial reporting environment
- Review and approve journal entries and monthly account reconciliations
Drive Compliance & Strengthen Controls
- Support the design, documentation, and testing of internal controls
- Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements and corporate accounting policies
- Oversee preparation and timely submission of quarterly and annual Statutory filings
- Coordinate annual Statutory and GAAP audits and serve as primary liaison to external auditors and regulators
Provide Technical Accounting Leadership
- Research complex accounting matters and provide recommendations in accordance with Statutory accounting principles and US GAAP
- Prepare monthly financial statements, variance analyses, and executive management reporting
- Support capital adequacy assessments and respond to regulatory and rating agency inquiries
Develop & Mentor Talent
- Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting team members, including temporary staff and interns
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and professional growth
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (CPA strongly preferred)
- 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including a minimum of 5 years within Property & Casualty insurance (REQUIRED)
- Strong expertise in Statutory accounting principles and US GAAP within an insurance environment
- Demonstrated leadership capability, strategic thinking, and executive-level communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven, regulated setting
- Advanced Excel proficiency
