Heritage Early Learning Centers is currently seeking dependable, flexible, and caring PRN / Substitute Teachers to join our team in Barnesville and Saint Clairsville, Ohio. We are looking for individuals who are attentive, professional, punctual, and passionate about supporting children in a positive, safe, and engaging learning environment.
This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with children and are able to adapt quickly to different classrooms, schedules, and age groups as staffing needs arise.
Position Overview
The PRN / Substitute Teacher will provide classroom support on an as-needed basis by assisting Lead Teachers and classroom staff in maintaining a structured, nurturing, and Christ-centered environment. This role may work with multiple age groups and classrooms throughout the center while supporting daily routines, classroom activities, supervision, and safety procedures.
Responsibilities
Classroom Support & Child Supervision
- Assist teachers with daily classroom routines and activities
- Supervise and engage with children in a safe, positive, and respectful manner
- Support classroom management and positive behavior guidance
- Help maintain a structured and nurturing learning environment
- Adapt quickly to various classrooms, age groups, and schedules
- Encourage positive social interactions and age-appropriate independence
Educational & Program Support
- Assist in implementing lesson plans, curriculum activities, and enrichment opportunities
- Support children during learning activities, meals, transitions, outdoor play, and rest periods
- Help prepare and organize classroom materials and activities
- Maintain an engaging and developmentally appropriate atmosphere
Safety & Professional Responsibilities
- Follow all center policies, procedures, licensing regulations, and safety protocols
- Respond calmly and appropriately during emergencies or unexpected situations
- Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, and center information
- Ensure classrooms remain clean, organized, and safe
- Report incidents, injuries, concerns, or behavioral issues to Administration promptly
- Arrive on time and maintain reliable attendance and communication

Preferred Qualifications

Physical Requirements
This role requires the ability to:
- Stand, walk, bend, and actively engage with children throughout the day
- Lift up to 50 pounds when needed
- Work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Supervise active classroom and playground environments
