Supplier Quality Engineer (On-site)

We are seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer for our client to drive supplier performance, qualify new suppliers, and resolve quality issues through inspections, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Monitor supplier scorecards and performance metrics, develop improvement plans, and drive first-time quality and zero-defect performance.
• Qualify new suppliers through capability assessments and on-site evaluations.
• Conduct supplier audits and source inspections, analyze defect trends, and lead improvement projects through completion.
• Evaluate nonconforming products and supplier corrective actions, communicating findings and impacts to program teams.
• Lead 8D problem-solving and root cause corrective actions to prevent recurring nonconformances.
• Perform Production Process Verifications (PPVs) and participate in Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) reviews and Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities.
• Perform and evaluate First Article Inspections in accordance with AS9102 and train suppliers on customer expectations.
• Communicate requirements, report progress, and present findings to suppliers, program teams, and executive leadership.

Required Qualifications:

• Eight years of supplier quality experience.
• Bachelor’s degree, or four years of experience in lieu of a degree.
• Experience with manufacturing inspection and acceptance of mechanical parts across multiple manufacturing processes.
• Knowledge of subtractive and additive manufacturing, materials, and processes such as turning, milling, grinding, fabrication, CNC machining, injection molding, casting, welding, and coating.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and measurement data for components and complex assemblies, including mechanical tolerances, surface quality, finish, flatness, profile, and centration.
• Strong understanding of MIL-STD, ANSI, and ISO drawing standards.
• Knowledge of special processes, including complex coatings, metallization, passivation, heat treatment, priming/painting, and brazing.
• Familiarity with mechanical and optical metrology, inspection tools, and gauges.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes and supply chain logistics from raw materials through finished goods.
• Experience with product testing, equipment, and instrumentation used in aerospace and defense manufacturing.
• Working knowledge of Quality Management Systems.
• Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize work independently and drive projects to completion.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with production line validation and qualification of mechanical and fabricated products.
• Knowledge of thermal processes, nondestructive testing, composites, and other aerospace and defense manufacturing processes.
• Familiarity with APQP, PPAP, Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), and control plans.
• Practical experience with Lean Manufacturing and Lean Six Sigma.
• Green Belt or Black Belt certification from a recognized organization.
