Product data Manager

Purpose of the job

This role is responsible for managing and governing product design data within SAP PLM/PDM environments by supporting and optimising integrated engineering systems, including CAD, ECTR, DMS, BOMs, and master data processes, to ensure accurate, controlled, and efficient product lifecycle data management between Engineering and Operations.

Qualification And Experience

Relevant tertiary qualification in Information Systems, Mechanical, Electronic or similar qualification

Extensive applied experience in an operational/production environment with SAP super-user responsibilities, including:

• End-user training
• Development and maintenance of procedural documentation
• Operational SAP support and process enablement
• SAP 3 and 4 Certification
  
  

Key Technical Skills

• Advanced SAP ERP expertise across multiple modules, including MRP, CS, Engineering, and ECTR integration, with extensive ERP and PLM implementation experience.
• Strong proficiency in engineering and design software, including CREO, Altium Designer, Adobe, and advanced Microsoft Office applications (MS Projects, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
• Extensive experience working within high-technology manufacturing environments, preferably within the defence industry.
• Sound knowledge of NATO and H6 standards, obsolescence management practices, and RoHS and REACH regulatory compliance requirements.
• Strong understanding of CAD-to-ERP integration, engineering data management, and product lifecycle management (PLM) processes.
• Ability to operate within secure and regulated environments, including eligibility to obtain Secret-level security clearance.
  
  

Key Responsibilities

• Product Data Lifecycle Management
  
  

Establish and maintain product data baselines and lifecycle records (including obsolescence) across PLM/PDM and SAP environments to support product development, build, and ensure data integrity, traceability, and timely product delivery

• System Support and Issue Resolution
  
  

Provide and coordinate system user support and issue resolution across multi-disciplinary teams using SAP, CAD, and related systems to address system queries and incidents, ensuring minimal operational disruption and sustained business continuity

• System Training and User Enablement
  
  

Deliver and facilitate system training (SAP, ECTR, CAD, and interfacing tools) to new and existing users across functions to improve system adoption and effective utilisation, ensuring consistent user capability and operational efficiency.

• Data Governance and Compliance Management
  
  

Ensure and govern data classification, quality, and compliance within SAP/PLM systems in line with organisational, regulatory, and audit requirements (e.g. EN9100, FAI, FCA, PCA) to maintain audit readiness and data accuracy, ensuring full compliance, traceability, and risk mitigation

• Component Codification and Master Data Management
  
  

Create and manage material master data and component codification (including NATO & H6 standards and COTS materials) to support design, engineering, and production requirements, ensuring accurate product definition, configuration control, and readiness for manufacturing and final product build.

• PLM/PDM System Improvement and Business Integration
  
  

Analyse and enhance PLM/PDM and SAP system processes and functionalities in collaboration with cross-functional teams and configuration/development stakeholders to align with business requirements and system architecture, ensuring continuous improvement, optimised processes, and effective lifecycle support.
