Job Summary:

The MLT II is responsible for performing tasks as delegated by the Director, Manager, or Lab Supervisor in any area of the lab deemed necessary, including Point of Care testing and Lab Information Systems. Responsibilities include performing testing classified as waived and moderate complexity as designated by CMS in POC, Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology.

Licensure and Certification:

• Current California MLT License (California Code or Regulations (CCR), Title 17, Section 1032.5)

Education:

• AA in Medical Laboratory Technology
• BS degree in sciences preferred

Experience:

• Minimum 4 years’ experience working as MLT

Knowledge and Skills:

• MLT Training with experience in a hospital based laboratory preferred.
• Ability to work well within a team environment.
• Ability to speak, read, and write fluently in English as well as follow verbal instructions with minimal supervision
• Ability to work flexible shifts
• Strong organizational skills
• Critical thinking skills
• Problem solving skills
• Basic computer skills

Physical Demands:

• Frequent sitting and standing/walking with frequent position change.
• Continuous use of bilateral upper extremities in fine motor activities requiring fingering, grasping, and forward reaching between waist and chest level.
• Occasional/intermittent reaching at or above shoulder level.
• Occasional/intermittent bending, squatting, kneeling, pushing/pulling, twisting, and climbing.
• Occasional/intermittent lifting and carrying objects/equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
• Continuous use of near vision, hearing and verbal communication skills in handling telephone calls, interacting with customers and co-workers and performing job duties.
