Shift: Full Time - 40 Hours - Day Shift, Monday-Friday 8AM-4:30PM
General Summary
Under general supervision, the Central Scheduling Coordinator – Cardiology is responsible for coordinating and scheduling patient appointments, procedures, and diagnostic services across cardiology service lines. Serves as a key point of contact for patients, providers, and internal departments to ensure accurate, timely, and efficient scheduling. Utilizes strong customer service, organizational, and communication skills to support patient access and continuity of care.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinates and schedules cardiology appointments, including office visits, diagnostic testing, and procedures, in accordance with provider availability and departmental guidelines.
- Verifies patient demographic and insurance information to ensure accuracy and completeness prior to scheduling.
- Communicates clearly with patients regarding appointment details, preparation instructions, and any required documentation.
- Collaborates with clinical staff, physicians, and other departments to optimize scheduling workflows and resolve conflicts.
- Prioritizes urgent and emergent scheduling requests appropriately.
- Maintains knowledge of cardiology services, procedures, and scheduling protocols.
- Utilizes electronic medical records (EMR) and scheduling systems to manage appointments and patient information.
- Provides excellent customer service by addressing patient inquiries, concerns, and requests in a professional and timely manner.
- Ensures compliance with organizational policies, HIPAA regulations, and departmental procedures.
- Assists with reporting, tracking, and follow-up activities related to scheduling and patient access.
Education/Experience Required
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Previous experience in scheduling, patient access, or healthcare administrative support preferred.
- Experience in a cardiology or specialty practice setting is a plus.
