Reliability Engineer (Future Maintenance Manager)

Overview
We are seeking a seasoned Reliability Engineer/Technician with both electrical and mechanical expertise to join our flagship mining operation. This is a career-track opportunity: the selected candidate will work closely with and shadow the current Maintenance & Reliability Superintendent, with the clear expectation to assume full leadership of the department as Maintenance Manager within 6–12 months. This is a high-visibility role for an individual who is motivated to lead a maintenance team, drive reliability strategy, and ultimately oversee the maintenance of the company’s premier mining site.
Key Responsibilities

Partner with the Maintenance & Reliability Superintendent to learn, refine, and eventually lead all aspects of the maintenance department.

Apply engineering principles to analyze recurring equipment issues, reduce downtime, and implement long-term reliability solutions.

Develop and execute preventive and predictive maintenance (PM/PdM) programs for both electrical and mechanical systems.

Lead equipment troubleshooting and root cause failure analysis, including high-voltage electrical systems (up to 1200 volts), PLCs, and automation systems.

Oversee contractors and internal maintenance staff, ensuring adherence to MSHA and EHS standards.

Manage capital and expense projects from scope through closeout, including contractor selection, project execution, and budget control.

Build and sustain technical standards for reliability, safety, and efficiency of underground mining equipment and systems.

Prepare for and eventually direct all aspects of maintenance operations, including staffing, training, compliance, and reliability program development.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent experience).

7 years of hands-on experience in maintenance reliability within heavy industrial, mining, or related sectors.

Strong electrical background required, including advanced knowledge of electronics, PLCs, mechanical systems, and automation.

Experience with high-voltage systems (preferably up to 1200 volts).

Demonstrated leadership ability with interest in stepping into a Maintenance Manager role within 6–12 months.

Familiarity with CMMS systems and modern reliability methodologies.

Knowledge of MSHA regulations, underground mining methods, and associated equipment preferred.

Reliability Certification a plus.

Willing and able to work a minimum of 55 hours per week, including every other Saturday (typically off by noon).
Work Environment

Ability to climb ladders, crawl, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs. regularly.

Comfortable working underground and in varying environmental conditions.

Must wear required PPE (steel-toe boots, safety glasses, etc.) at all times.
