What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Associate-Shear Operator 2nd shift position at Hendrickson?
Position Purpose
Responsible for loading steel into Shear and cutting to proper length.
Hourly pay range: $16.75 - $19.75
Essential Functions
Load bundles onto shear.
Pulls tag off bundle and records information onto the shear report.
Gets a new heat code for that bundle.
Tags boxes with proper information for part number, heat code, date, and initials.
Pull a 19’ bar through shear to backstop cuts bar.
Takes that bar and checks measurement with ruler or tape ruler to make sure for proper length of shear report.
Make sure the shear is making a clean cut if not get supervisor to change blades.
Make adjustment to backstop if needed for correct length.
Pushes bar through again to backstop make another cut check length again.
If length is good, continue cutting bar until last cut, take and measure that for right bar end cut on shear report.
When done cutting for shift, hand in shear report and tags bundle.
Clean up around the shear.
Unloading steel trucks
Training on how to use the magnetic crane safely and responsible.
Other duties as assigned.
Education And Training
High school diploma or GED
Minimum Qualifications
Must be able to read and write English.
Must be able to read and understand work instructions.
Must be able to read a tape measure or ruler.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work well with others.
Physical Demands
Ability to twist, bend and lift repetitively.
Ability to stand continuously for 8-12 hours.
Good physical conditions to lift to 25lbs repetitively.
Good eye/hand coordination and good motor skills.
Environmental Conditions
Exposure to loud noise.
Exposure to hot and humid conditions.
Double hearing protection and eye protection are always required in all production areas.
Steel toe boots with metatarsals are always required.
