The Material Planner (Scheduler) is responsible for ensuring the timely availability of materials and production schedules to support manufacturing and customer demand. This role works collaboratively with production, purchasing, engineering, quality, and logistics teams to balance supply, capacity, and inventory while supporting company goals for safety, quality, delivery, and cost. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, analytical, and thrives in a team‑based, fast‑paced environment.
Essential Functions
- Review and analyze MRP data on a daily basis, making timely adjustments to delivery schedules to align with production demands.
- Manage inventory levels of purchased components to meet plant performance targets while minimizing excess and shortages.
- Communicate effectively, clearly, and consistently with all functional areas of the plant and customer service to ensure alignment and issue resolution.
- Monitor and implement Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), reducing the risk of excess inventory and material obsolescence.
- Utilize supply chain principles and tools such as Kanban, Just‑In‑Time (JIT), lot sizing, and material flow
- Works effectively in a collaborative team environment, utilizing Microsoft Office applications for email communication and data analysis.
- Communicates clearly, concisely, and completely too all functional areas of the plant.
- Knowledge of MRPII required.
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related degree preferred, or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of formal manufacturing resource planning systems required.
- Knowledge of KANBAN, ISO/TS16949 and JIT concepts and techniques preferred.
- Combined experience in purchasing and general warehousing preferred.
- APICS certification or pursuing certification is a plus.
- Effective communication skills (verbal/written) with strong math and organizational skills are required.
- Microsoft Office and Showcase Strategy a plus.
- Professional ethics, tact, and courtesy in dealing with vendors are required.
- Manufacturing experience preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills required.
- Ability to execute long range planning.
- Ability to exercise foresight relative to inventory control.
