What are the responsibilities and job description for the Elastomers Lab Technician position at Hendrickson?
Hendrickson is searching for a Lab Technician to join their Elastomers Business Unit at the Kendallville, IN manufacturing plant.
This individual will support Elastomer Lab activities through the assembly and testing of elastomer components; and execute preventative maintenance and repairs on various types of lab equipment.

This individual will support Elastomer Lab activities through the assembly and testing of elastomer components; and execute preventative maintenance and repairs on various types of lab equipment.
Other Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To
- Utilize MTS Servo-Hydraulic and Static-Hydraulic test equipment to evaluate the performance and durability of elastomer suspension components & subsystems to include:
- Static & dynamic stiffness characterization
- Load-deflection & strength testing
- Single-axis fatigue testing
- Assist in developing and improving test methods
- Provide technical leadership within the lab while mentoring junior test technicians
- Conduct multi-axial bushing fatigue testing
- Conduct environmental salt-fog chamber testing
- Utilize hydraulic press equipment to assemble prototypes
- Manage test equipment, fixtures and test samples
- Support lab equipment setup, upgrades and calibration
- Conduct preventive maintenance and repairs on various types of lab equipment
- Provide and maintain a safe, organized and clean (5S) working environment in the laboratory
- Other duties as assigned.
- AS degree in an appropriate technical field and 3 years of relevant experience or 8 years of relevant experience.
- Experience working in a lab environment operating and maintaining MTS equipment.
- Experience with MTS TestSuite and MultiPurpose TestWare (MPT) preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software programs
- Strong mechanical and technical aptitude
- Regularly lift 25 pounds and occasionally lift 50 pounds
- Some overnight travel (less than 10%)
