What are the responsibilities and job description for the Direct Support Professional - House Monitor position at Hendricks House Group?
We are seeking two (02) dedicated and compassionate Monitors to join the Hendricks House Group team at our women's campus located in_ Millville and our men's_ campus in Vineland on a part-time basis.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the safety and well-being of female and male clients in a structured environment. This role requires strong interpersonal skills, the ability to manage crises effectively, and a commitment to supporting individuals in their personal growth and development. The Monitor will work closely with clients, and staff to ensure a supportive and secure atmosphere. Must have a valid driver's license and a diploma or GED. [Millville women's part-time Monitor: 11:30 pm to 8:00 am Friday and Saturday. Vineland men's part-time Monitor 7:30 am to 4:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday.]
If you are looking for additional income and/or an opportunity to gain experience in an outpatient addiction facility as a per-diem (PRN), we are open to considering reliable and consistent per-diem employees who are available and can work a minimum of three shifts a month.
Pay rate: $16.00 per hour
Responsibilities
- Supervise individuals in a variety of settings, ensuring their safety and adherence to established guidelines.
- Implement crisis intervention strategies as needed to de-escalate situations swiftly and effectively.
- Provide support and assistance to individuals requiring addiction counseling.
- Maintain security protocols to protect clients and staff within the facility.
- Assist individuals struggling with addiction through counseling and support services.
- Manage conflicts among clients using effective conflict management techniques.
- Transport residents to work, shopping, activities, AA/NA meetings/events, and other appointments (as needed) in company's [sprinter-like] vans.
- Document mileage, complete vehicle log in a timely manner; ensure vehicle has fuel.
- Maintain accurate records through data entry via KIPU, filing, and data collection processes.
- Supervise medication as required while adhering to safety protocols.
- Conduct hourly safety room checks/document.
- Monitor and ensure chores are completed daily. Supervise recreational activities.
- Monitor visitations. Conduct observed urine drug screening on clients.
- Ability to walk up and downstairs frequently.
Experience
Candidates should possess experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Supervising experience in a relevant field such group home setting.
- Crisis intervention techniques and conflict management skills.
- Experience in addiction counseling or behavioral health services is highly desirable.
- Proficient communication skills for effective interaction with clients and team members.
- First aid certification is a plus, along with any relevant training in home & community care experience.
