Summary: Hendrick Motorsports, a championship-winning NASCAR operation, is seeking a highly motivated Engine Clean-up Technician to join the team. As a crucial member of our operations, this role involves the meticulous cleaning and preparation of engine components to ensure optimal performance and longevity. The ideal candidate will possess a keen eye for detail, excellent time management skills, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and safety. Our technicians play a vital role in supporting our engine programs by ensuring that all parts are clean and ready for reuse or repair.

  • You will be responsible for using a variety of cleaning techniques and equipment, including ultrasonic cleaners and pressure washers, to remove oil, dirt, and grime from engine parts.
  • Additionally, you will need to document the cleaning process and communicate effectively with team members to identify any damaged components that may require further attention.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities Include The Following

  • Responsible for shop and break room clean-up, including but not limited to, sweeping, mopping, and scrubbing.
  • Responsible for cleaning the piece parts that have been removed and routed to the cleaning department after the engine has been disassembled.
  • Remove grease build-up, corrosion products, etc., as well as prepare parts for the next overhaul step using various cleaning compounds and chemical solutions, spray guns, brushes, etc.
  • Complete forms associated with work assignments according to established procedures.
  • Responsible for the completion of assigned shop tasks and projects, including providing support to other technicians to complete necessary work in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and neat work environment through proper housekeeping and organization.

Desired Education

  • GED
  • High School Diploma

Desired Work Experience

  • up to 3 years

Education/Experience

  • Intermediate mechanical and technical aptitude desired.
  • Technical training in automotive manufacturing a plus.

Certificates And Licenses

  • Valid Driver’s License

Computer Skills

  • Basic computer skills required.

Physical Demands

  • Requires vision (near, distance, depth), sense of touch, and ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) – safety glasses, hearing protection.
  • Constantly manually manipulates, squats or kneels, bends, lifts/carries up to 20 pounds, and pushes/pulls 12 pounds or less.
  • Frequently stands, walks, sits, reaches outward, reaches above shoulder, lifts/carries up to 50 pounds, and pushes/pulls up to 25 pounds. Occasionally climbs, crawls, lifts/carries up to and over 100 pounds, and pushes/pulls up to 100 pounds.
