Position Summary
The Financial Controller for Henderson Family Enterprises is responsible for leading all accounting and financial reporting functions while providing strategic financial leadership to support company growth and profitability. This role ensures the integrity of financial information, strengthens internal controls, drives process improvements, and partners with operational leaders to improve business performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee all accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll, treasury management, fixed assets, credit management, and tax compliance.
- Prepare, review, and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
- Manage the monthly and year-end close processes to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
- Develop, monitor, and improve internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance.
- Partner with department leaders to develop annual budgets, forecasts, and long-range financial plans.
- Analyze financial performance, including budget-to-actual results, gross margin trends, profitability by department, key performance indicators, and financial ratios.
- Provide actionable recommendations to improve profitability, cash flow, operational efficiency, and working capital management.
- Lead cash management activities, including forecasting, banking relationships, debt compliance, and liquidity planning.
- Coordinate external audits, tax preparation, and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Support executive leadership with financial modeling, strategic analysis, and decision-making initiatives.
- Drive continuous improvement efforts through automation, ERP optimization, and process enhancements.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting team members through performance management, coaching, training, and succession planning.
- Maintain confidentiality and integrity in handling company, financial, and employee information.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; CPA designation preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory responsibility.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial analysis.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including financial modeling, pivot tables, and complex formulas.
- Experience working with ERP systems such as NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics GP, or similar platforms.
- Proven ability to manage multiple entities, locations, and reporting requirements.
- Strong analytical, organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present financial information to executive leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to identify process improvements and implement best practices across the organization.
- Experience supporting audits, tax compliance, and regulatory reporting requirements.
