Job Summary:
The Nursing Assistant or Certified Nursing Assistant is responsible for providing compassionate, hands-on care to patients under the supervision of the Charge Nurse. This position supports the clinical team in delivering quality care by assisting with daily living activities, monitoring patient status, and ensuring a clean, safe environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform patient care duties in accordance with facility policies and under the direction of the Charge Nurse.
- Assist with bathing (bed bath, partial, tub, shower, sitz bath, or whirlpool) and hygiene care, including oral and hair care.
- Make and maintain clean, orderly patient beds.
- Collect specimens for urine, stool, and sputum tests.
- Assist patients with bedpans, urinals, and toileting; empty as needed.
- Measure and record fluid intake and output accurately, including oral intake and drainage bags.
- Pass dietary trays, serve nourishments, and assist or feed patients as needed.
- Transfer patients safely using carts, wheelchairs, lifts, or assisting with ambulation.
- Respond promptly to call lights and attend to patient needs.
- Monitor and report patient condition changes, including breathing, color, vital signs, and responsiveness.
- Take and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure).
- Assist with patient admissions, discharges, and transfers.
- Apply and remove ice packs or warm packs as directed.
- Provide terminal and postmortem care with sensitivity and dignity.
- Ensure patient comfort by providing back rubs, maintaining neat bed space, and straightening the room.
- Help maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized patient care environment.
- Serve as a compassionate listener and report any patient concerns or observations to the Charge Nurse.
- Attend required in-service education and training sessions provided by the facility.
- Work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays, as scheduled.
- Perform all other duties as assigned and directed by the Charge Nurse or Director of Nursing.
- Abide by employee immunization/vaccination policies.
Qualifications:
Must be at least 16 years of age.
Certificates, Licenses, Registration:
Current Nebraska certification as a Nursing Assistant is desirable. BLS (can be obtained), DOT HAZMAT (can be obtained).

7am to 7pm 1 day a week, which includes every third weekend.
