Job Title: Solar Market Intelligence Manager

At Hemlock Semiconductor (HSC), we transform people’s lives by energizing and connecting our world through silicon technology. Since 1961, HSC has been a leading global provider of hyper-pure polysilicon, and is the only polysilicon manufacturer headquartered in the United States. HSC plays an essential role in the semiconductor and solar industries, with the vision of becoming the preferred supplier of silicon-enabled technologies to the low-carbon, digital world.

Our polysilicon is used to make computer chips – the “brains” behind the electronic devices we rely on to make our lives easier, safer and more enjoyable. HSC is just one of six major manufacturers in the world that makes polysilicon used to create semiconductor wafers. In fact, nearly all electronic devices in the world contain HSC polysilicon.

We’re also moving the world toward a greener future by supplying the rapidly growing solar power industry. HSC is committed to doing good for our local Michigan and global communities, relentlessly improving our operations to remove supply chain carbon emissions. The low embodied greenhouse gas emissions in our polysilicon materials facilitates the production of ultra low-carbon solar panels. These panels allow solar project developers and owners to lower the embodied carbon of their projects by up to 50 percent.

  • Own end‑to‑end solar market intelligence across polysilicon, wafer, cell, and module value chains, including pricing, capacity, cost structures, and supply–demand balances.
  • Maintain and synthesize data from third‑party subscriptions (e.g., Bloomberg, S&P, CRU, Roth, Intertek CEA) into recurring internal updates and ad‑hoc analyses.
  • Track global manufacturing announcements, capacity utilization, and trade flows to assess implications for U.S. market access and domestic competitiveness.
  • Benchmark company performance against major global polysilicon producers.

Commercial Strategy & Executive Support (Critical Function)

  • Support Commercial, Investor Relations, and Executive Leadership with market‑driven insights used in pricing strategy, customer engagement, and long‑term positioning.

  • Serve as a trusted thought partner to senior leaders by proactively identifying risks, opportunities, and inflection points in the solar market.
  • Collaborate closely with Commercial, Customer Service Professionals (CSPs), Planning, and Operations to support recurring business updates on the status of active solar customers.

Government Affairs & Policy Analytics (Critical Function)

  • Act as the analytical lead and point of contact for solar‑related Government Affairs workstreams, supporting advocacy tied to:
  • IRA Section 45X manufacturing tax credits, Domestic Content (ITC/PTC) guidance, UFLPA enforcement, Section 301 / Section 232 trade remedies
  • Build and maintain quantitative models (e.g., domestic content % breakdowns, value‑add vs. cost‑based approaches, safe harbor sensitivity analyses) used in formal submissions and industry coalitions.
  • Provide rapid‑turn analysis and briefing materials for RFIs, agency meetings, and industry coordination (SEIA, SEMA, coalition partners).

Financial Forecasting & Demand Planning

  • Partner with Finance and integrative supply chain planning teams teams to inform short‑ and long‑term financial forecasts, including assumptions around polysilicon pricing and demand outlooks.

Cross Functional Leadership & Knowledge Ownership

  • Operate as a cross‑functional integrator, routinely collaborating with Government Affairs, Finance, Commercial, Procurement, Investor Relations, and external analysts.
  • Own institutional knowledge for solar market data, methodologies, and historical assumptions; ensure continuity via documentation and repeatable models.
  • Mentor junior analysts and interns, including task prioritization, analytical review, and executive‑ready output.

Skills & Profile for Success

  • B.S. in Engineering or B.A. in Business or similar degree, 3-5 years prior experience
  • Strong quantitative modeling and market analysis capabilities
  • Deep familiarity with solar PV supply chains and policy frameworks
  • Ability to communicate complex insights clearly to senior, non‑technical stakeholders
  • Highly self‑directed; comfortable operating with ambiguity and shifting priorities
  • Collaborative mindset with credibility across technical, commercial, and policy teams
