Speech-Language Pathologist

Helping Hands School | Special Education Preschool

Helping Hands School is seeking a dedicated, collaborative Speech-Language Pathologist who enjoys working with young children and believes that communication development happens throughout the school day—not just during therapy sessions!

We are looking for someone who values being an active member of a multidisciplinary team, enjoys partnering with classroom staff, and recognizes the importance of helping children carry over their communication skills into everyday routines, play, and learning experiences.

Helping Hands School is a vibrant special education preschool where teamwork, creativity, and a shared commitment to children are at the heart of what we do. Our talented and compassionate staff work together to create an engaging, supportive environment where every child has the opportunity to grow and succeed.

Our school operates September through June, with an additional six-week summer program.

Position Summary

The Speech-Language Pathologist will provide direct therapy services in accordance with students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) while serving as an integral member of our classroom-based multidisciplinary team.

Beyond direct therapy, the SLP will collaborate with teachers, teaching assistants, and related service providers to integrate communication strategies into classroom activities, support student participation, and promote the generalization of skills throughout the school day.

We value professionals who are comfortable sharing their expertise, learning from colleagues, and working together to meet the diverse needs of our preschoolers.

Key Responsibilities

· Provide engaging, developmentally appropriate speech and language therapy aligned with students' IEP goals and service mandates.

· Collaborate closely with classroom teams to support communication, social interaction, and participation in daily classroom routines.

· Model and share practical communication strategies that teachers and teaching assistants can incorporate into classroom activities, transitions, and play.

· Adapt therapeutic approaches and individualized supports to meet each child's unique developmental and learning needs.

· Work alongside teachers and related service providers to problem-solve challenges, implement positive behavioral supports, and celebrate student progress.

· Collect and maintain accurate, timely documentation and progress data.

· Build positive partnerships with families through ongoing communication, shared strategies, and meaningful progress updates.

Qualifications

· CCC-SLP or TSLD/TSHH

· Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) candidates are welcome to apply.

· Experience working with preschool-aged children, particularly those with developmental delays or disabilities, is preferred.

· Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

· A team-oriented approach and enthusiasm for supporting children in both therapy and classroom settings.

Why Helping Hands?

At Helping Hands, our therapists are more than service providers—they are valued members of the educational team. We believe the greatest progress happens when professionals work together, share ideas, and support one another in helping children succeed.

If you're looking for a preschool setting where your expertise is valued, collaboration is part of the culture, and your work makes a difference both in and beyond the therapy room, we want to hear from you!
