What HELP offers our Direct Care Workers (DCWs):

Position Summary: As a member of the established bargaining unit and under general supervision of the Site Leader performs duties related to the overall care of consumers in assigned residential facilities. Must be able to successfully complete all of the functions and competencies associated with this position as well as other duties as they may be assigned.

Essential Job Functions

  • Come to work on time, in the proper attire prepared to work 
  • Make sure all required trainings and certifications are up to date
  • Adjust work hours as required for effective operation of the program
  • Ensure compliance with applicable licensure regulations
  • Providing consumers with assistance in everyday life skills
  • Provide active treatment, emotional and health-related services including administering medications, checking vitals to monitor overall health and assisting with medical equipment.
  • Responsible for administrative task associated with providing support.
  • Accurately following and maintaining the medication administration record (MAR)
  • Immediately report any incidents or accidents involving consumer to the Site Leader
  • Accurately, legibly and cohesively document all services provided to consumers
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of the consumers at all times
  • Involve consumers in community and recreation based activities
  • Assist with and or complete household chores such as laundry, cooking, vacuuming, and others
  • Provide active treatment, guiding consumers on proper care 
  • Make and accompany consumers to appointments
  • Performing and recording physical assessments including taking and recording vital signs and medical histories
  • Exhibit acceptable work standards and immediately correct actions that do not meet Agency standards. 
  • Assist with providing basic personal care and grooming, including bathing, basic hair care and getting dressed
  • Maintain a clean and safe facility at all times
  • Follow Homemaker Personal Care (HPC) forms and follow goal data sheets.
  • Report Unusual Incident Report (UIR) and Major Unusual Incident (MUI) situations to Site Leader according to provided guidelines
  • Make sure that Individual Support Plans (ISP) and Behavior Support Plans are followed 
  • Keeping and documenting records of body and general living conditions

Available schedules are as follows:

South Euclid location

Direct Care Worker: Every Thursday, Friday and Saturday 11:30pm-9am = 57 hours (bi-weekly) NON DRIVING

Direct Care Worker: First Sunday and last Saturday of two week pay period - 9am-4pm = 14 hours (bi-weekly)

Direct Care Worker:  First Saturday and second Sunday of two week pay period (middle weekend) - 9am-4pm = 14 hours (bi-weekly) 

Direct Care Worker: Week 1 / Sunday 12pm-8pm & Thursday / Friday 2pm-8pm  = 40 hours (bi-weekly)  

Cleveland Heights location

Direct Care Worker: Every weekend (1st Sunday 8:30 am-2pm, 1st Saturday 8:30 am-4:30 pm / 2nd Sunday 8:30 am-5:30pm, 2nd Saturday 8:30 am-6 pm) = 32 hours (bi-weekly) 


Requirements
  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED and 1 year of work experience preferably in a care providing role, or experience and/or exposure to working with individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities or a combination of experience and education 
  • Basic level of computer proficiency 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good assessment, charting and record keeping skills
  • Ability to accept and provide direction and instruction in a professional manner
  • Successfully pass a medication administration course
  • Successfully pass a drug test and a background check that includes a BCI and FBI criminal history check
  • Must possess exceptional verbal and written communication skills 
  • Must have a valid Ohio Driver's License with less than 5 points
