Position Overview
A Traffic Manager is the on-site company representative responsible managing the temporary
traffic control pattern. All Traffic Managers report to the location’s they were hired for, or work
out of, Manager or Director of Operations. This person will direct and participate in the setup
of the work zone’s temporary traffic control pattern.
Position Duties
This is a general description of the physical requirements for the position it is not intended to
describe the entirety of the position. There may be other demands that arise out of the
Position Duty “Other duties as assigned” that require more or altered physical capabilities.
The individual in this position must be able to stand for extended periods of time as well as sit
for at least an hour traveling to the work site. While standing the individual must be able to
hold a pole mounted sign and turn it back forth at regular intervals or perform other field
assignments such as setting up signs and arrow boards. This position also requires the ability to
lift 40 pounds unassisted. This individual must have good reaction and mobility to avoid
dangerous situations as they may arise. Furthermore, the individual will be required to stand,
walk, and occasionally bend over to complete the position’s tasks. Finally, this position requires
fine motor skills to operate walkie-talkies, phones, and tablets.
All Traffic Managers must have good hearing, sight, and voice. Or, they must employ
corrective/supportive devices where necessary.

- Direct and participate with loading the truck before leaving the yard
- Safely drive the crew in company vehicle to the worksite
- Setup and maintain the worksite’s temporary traffic control pattern
- Place signs and arrow boards as needed
- Direct crew as needed
- Rotate crew for breaks and lunch periods
- At end of client’s project take down the temporary traffic control pattern
- Safely drive the crew to yard
- Fill up the truck for the next use
- Clean and arrange the truck for the next use.
- Maintain safety standards as per standards and regulations as per company policy and
- Other duties as assigned
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid Driver’s License
- Clean driving record, no points and no at-fault accidents in last three years
- Effective Communication Skills
- Basic computer software comprehension skills
- ATSSA Flagger Certification
- VA, MD, or PA Manager of Traffic Certification
