Position: Technology and Metadata Services Assistant
Hours: 27.5 hours per week
Beginning Hourly Rate: $17.25-$21.57 depending on qualifications
$21.57 is the midpoint of the pay grade. Starting at or above the midpoint is reserved for candidates who exceed the minimum qualifications and have significant relevant experience.
Position Description
Join our team as a part-time Technology and Metadata Services Assistant! In this role, you'll keep our collections in top shape, processing magazines and newspapers, repairing damaged materials, assisting with inventory projects, and supporting cataloging efforts. You'll collaborate with a tight-knit team to ensure patrons have access to well-organized, quality resources.
We're seeking someone detail-oriented, organized, and customer-focused with strong communication skills. LTA certification or equivalent library experience is preferred. If you're flexible, tech-savvy, and passionate about supporting your community, we'd love to hear from you!
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Checks in, processes, organizes, maintains, and withdraws all serials, including magazines, newspapers, and microfilm
- Communicates with Adult Services and Youth Services staff regarding the periodical collection and subscription changes
- Handles claim and complaint forms for missing or duplicate periodical issues
- Assists with collection inventory projects
- Repairs damaged material including audiovisual discs
- Serves as backup for material processing in collaboration with the Processing Specialist
- May perform basic copy cataloging in collaboration with Cataloging Librarians
- Participates in special cataloging, database cleanup, reclassification, and re-packaging projects, as assigned
Qualifications
- LTA certification or equivalent library experience preferred
