Position Summary
The Production Supervisor serves as the primary liaison between Heimerl Farms and our contract growers. This role is responsible for supporting growers in achieving optimal production performance, maintaining strong communication, and ensuring company standards for animal care, biosecurity, and barn management are met.
This position combines hands-on barn involvement, production oversight, and grower support while coordinating marketings and ensuring accurate documentation throughout each production cycle.
Reports To: Production Manager
Key Responsibilities
Grower Relations & Communication
\t Communicate and consult regularly with contract growers and farm managers.
\tServe as the main point of contact between the company and assigned producers.
\tBuild and maintain strong working relationships through consistent communication and on-site presence.
\tProvide growers with company updates, expectations, and production resources.
Barn Oversight & Animal Care
\tVisit each assigned barn at least once per week.
\tEvaluate pig health, barn conditions, ventilation, and overall performance.
\tProvide animal husbandry consulting to improve efficiency and outcomes.
\tEnsure compliance with company standards for biosecurity, animal welfare, and production protocols.
Production & Marketing Coordination
\tSelect and market hogs for harvest in coordination with packers and company scheduling.
\tWork with growers and logistics teams to ensure timely and efficient load-outs.
\tMonitor performance data and assist in improving production results across sites.
Animal Health & Veterinary Coordination
\tRecommend and promote animal health practices as directed by the Herd Veterinarian.
\tCollect samples and coordinate submission to veterinarians when needed.
\tAssist in implementing herd health programs and protocols.
Education & Continuous Improvement
\tEducate producers on new production practices, technologies, and company initiatives.
\tProvide training and support to growers to improve barn performance.
Documentation & Reporting
\tAssist growers in completing and submitting required paperwork after each group of pigs is marketed.
\tMaintain accurate production records and site visit documentation.
\tEnsure timely communication of production data to company systems and leadership.
Qualifications
Required
\tStrong communication and organizational skills
\tAbility to travel regularly within a designated territory
\tValid driver’s license and clean driving record
\tAbility to work independently and manage time effectively
Preferred
\t1 years of experience in or around swine production systems
\tUnderstanding of swine nutrition and livestock health management
\tPQA (Pork Quality Assurance) certification or willingness to obtain
\tBachelor’s degree in animal science, Agriculture, or related field
