Staff Accountant / Junior Accountant

We are seeking a Staff Accountant / Junior Accountant to join our accounting team. This position will report directly to the Controller and support the day-to-day and month-end accounting functions across multiple entities. The ideal candidate will be organized, detail-oriented, and eager to grow with the company.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform monthly property & casualty insurance reconciliations and track insurance allocations by department or entity.
- Perform monthly health insurance reconciliations, review billing for accuracy, and prepare monthly cost allocation reports.
- Prepare and complete monthly bank reconciliations and assist in generating consolidated cash flow reports.
- Maintain and reconcile inventory balances; prepare monthly inventory and variance reports.
- Manage accounts payable workflow: receive, review, and process payment requests; track approvals; and maintain vendor files.
- Generate invoices for key customer accounts and assist in AR tracking across entities.
- Produce and update recurring monthly reports, including:
- Milk Hauling Report
- Payroll Report
- KPI (Key Performance Indicator) Report
- Miles and Fuel Report
- Asset Utilization Report
- Assist with weekly budget tracking for the Refresco division and other key operations.
- Prepare and post recurring and adjusting journal entries as part of the month-end close.
- Support and maintain capital expenditure (CapEx) tracking and prepare monthly reports on capital spending.
- Perform monthly credit card reconciliations and expense reporting.
- Assist with Boxit-N-Lockit invoicing and accounts receivable management.
- Compile terminal and alternate location reports for management review.
- Be trained as a backup payroll specialist to process payroll and handle related reporting when needed.
Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 1–3 years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping preferred (transportation, logistics, or manufacturing industry a plus).
- Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with ChatGPT, or Axon Trucking software a plus.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills and willingness to work collaboratively with operations and management.

Pay: $50, $75,000.00 per year
