The Position
We are seeking an exceptional Client Development Manager to lead priority consulting solutions at scale, initially with a predominant focus across Leadership Assessment, ensuring our Partners are expertly prepared to nurture and convert identified opportunities.
This new role in Heidrick Consulting requires exec level influence, business development rigour and sales excellence to maintain and grow a healthy regional pipeline and support pursuits with insights, solutions and sales collateral. Reporting to the Global Client Acquisition Director, this role is part of newly established global team responsible for driving significant market share and revenue growth, and one of the Firm’s global strategic priorities.
Accountabilities:
Opportunity Enablement
- Work with Client Development Senior Associate to ensure seamless transition from informal interest to structured opportunity
- Develop concise opportunity briefs and provide Partners with tailored insight and client context
- Draw on / convene wider stakeholders in the Firm to maximise insight and conversion potential.
Sales & conversion support
- Ensure the pursuit team is equipped and ready to execute, supporting Partners through early sales conversations
- Work with Partners to structure early client meetings, briefings, and follow-ups
- Drive sales process incl proposal development and pricing
- Ensure continuity and momentum across the sales cycle with structured and quality follow-up
Optimise sales performance
- Manage regional pipeline and forecast, report to Regional and CoE Leaders
- Maintain sales dashboard and client data in CRM
- Track how opportunities progress through sales stages and identify where and why opportunities stall or accelerate
- Become a trusted advisor on best in class sales pursuit, tracking how proposition and messaging resonates differently by eg sector, region.
Continuous Improvement
- Capture lessons learned from wins, losses, and near-misses
- Feed insights back into:
- Business and client development
- Marketing and GTM teams
- Partners and GTM Leaders
Find and evaluate new opportunities.
- Monitor the market and connect the dots with the Firm to spot leadership advisory relevant triggers including:
- Transformation and restructuring programmes
- Leadership transitions, succession events
- M&A, carve-outs, or integration
- Performance stress / accelerated growth
- Planning cycles and MSA renewals
- Frequently report on evaluated and qualified client targets
Shape the opportunity platform
- Use data, benchmarks, and trends to rationalise opportunities, and shape insight that resonates at executive and Partner level
- Translate insights into concise and actionable opportunity summaries for Partners
- Ensure all opportunities are accurate and aligned with wider Firm sales and Go-To-Market activity
- Work with Client Development manager to present go to market (gtm) recommendations to Partners and Business Development team incl research on prospect buying profiles to targeted approaches with higher impact
Collaborate in sales development
- Work closely with Partners and Client Development Manager to pressure-test opportunity quality
- Align activity with Partners’ client growth strategies and priorities
Continuous improvement
- Work with HC marketing and Business Development to share learning on which triggers, sectors, and signals convert into real opportunities
- Continuously refine targeting criteria based on results and feedback
- Contribute to the firm’s understanding of how and when clients buy consulting at scale offerings
The Person
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- 5 years of experience in sales, business development, client operations
- Experience and interest across the HR/ Leadership Advisory space preferred
- Experience supporting senior executives in complex or fast-paced environments preferred.
- Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and writing abilities, with experience drafting executive-level communications.
- Strong project management capability, able to drive accountability across stakeholders.
- High discretion, judgment, and ability to handle sensitive information.
- Professional presence with confidence to act as a representative for senior Regional Leadership.
- Proficiency with productivity tools (CRM and collaboration tools).
Pay Range Guidelines for this Position:
The salary range for this position is 100,000 USD to 125,000 USD. Compensation is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work-experience and skills. In addition to your salary, Heidrick & Struggles offers discretionary bonuses (subject to eligibility requirements) and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, disability leave, parental leave, paid time off and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Note: we have a location-based compensation structure; there may be a different range for candidates in other locations.
