Production Supervisor

Lead Operations. Drive Performance. Make a Difference.

At Heidelberg Materials, we're looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Production Supervisor to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to take a key leadership role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and profitable operation of one of our quarry sites.

Working closely with the Site Manager, you'll help oversee day-to-day production activities, lead by example on health and safety, maintain high-quality standards, and support the development of site personnel.

What You'll Be Doing

Health, Safety & Environmental Leadership

• Champion a strong health and safety culture across the site.
• Ensure operations comply with all relevant legislation, company policies, and the Heidelberg Materials Health, Safety & Environment Management System.
• Lead by example in the use of safe working practices, PPE, and site standards.
• Hold the appointment under Section 8 (1) (d) of the Quarries Regulations 1999.
• Conduct and review daily site inspections and safety audits.
• Support the management and monitoring of contractors to ensure safe working practices are followed.
• Ensure weekly geotechnical inspections are completed and recorded.
  
  
  

Production & Operational Performance

• Support the Site Manager in delivering safe and efficient quarry operations.
• Assist with maintenance planning and ensure servicing and repairs are completed to schedule.
• Help manage plant performance, production activities, and operational resources.
• Maintain accurate maintenance and operational records.
• Contribute to period-end reporting, stock returns, production data, and breakdown analysis.
  
  
  

Quality & Customer Service

• Ensure all products supplied meet required specifications and quality standards.
• Promote a customer-focused approach across the operation.
• Work closely with customers, commercial teams, and logistics colleagues to deliver reliable service.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with visitors, customers, and stakeholders.
  
  
  

Team Leadership

• Support and develop site employees through coaching, training, and mentoring.
• Ensure all new starters receive appropriate induction and role-specific training.
• Build positive working relationships across the team and address challenges proactively.
• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  
  
  

Site Standards & Continuous Improvement

• Help manage the procurement of materials, services, and site requirements.
• Support cost control and operational efficiency initiatives.
• Maintain excellent housekeeping standards across the site.
• Ensure roads, buildings, equipment, and surrounding areas remain safe, compliant, and presentable.
• Build positive relationships with local communities and support the resolution of any site concerns.
  
  
  

What We're Looking For

We're interested in candidates who can demonstrate:

• Supervisory or leadership experience within a quarry, aggregates, mining, manufacturing, heavy industry, construction materials, or processing environment.
• Strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental excellence.
• Excellent communication and people management skills.
• Ability to organise workloads, prioritise activities, and make sound operational decisions.
• Experience managing maintenance activities and operational performance.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
• IT literacy and confidence in maintaining operational records and reports.
• Knowledge of quarry operations and relevant regulations is desirable.
