Job Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professionals to provide high-quality care and assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities, aging needs, or other health conditions. This role involves supporting residents in their daily activities, promoting independence, and ensuring a safe and nurturing environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in patient care, home and community care, and experience working with diverse populations including seniors, individuals with autism, dementia, or other disabilities. Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Provide medication administration and monitor vital signs in accordance with care plans
- Support residents during meal preparation, feeding, and nutritional needs
- Implement individualized care plans tailored to each resident’s needs and preferences
- Engage residents in social activities and community outings to promote socialization and well-being
- Maintain accurate documentation of care provided while adhering to HIPAA regulations
- Observe and report changes in residents’ health status or behavior to healthcare professionals or supervisors
- Operate assistive devices such as Hoyer lifts safely and effectively for resident transfers
- Perform light cleaning duties to ensure a safe and sanitary environment
- Follow safety protocols including CPR and First Aid procedures to respond effectively during emergencies
- Collaborate with team members, families, and healthcare providers to deliver comprehensive care
Requirements
- Prior experience in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health care preferred
- Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care, autism support, hospice care, or long-term care is advantageous
- Certifications such as CPR, First Aid, HIPAA training are highly desirable
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary for resident transfers or mobility assistance
- Strong patient observation skills with the ability to monitor vital signs and recognize health changes
- Compassionate attitude with excellent communication skills for working with residents with diverse needs
- Experience working with people with disabilities or developmental challenges preferred
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Valid driver’s license may be required for community outings or transportation duties
