Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Travel Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week contract assignment at North Country Hospital in Newport, Vermont. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced nurse with Medical-Surgical, PCU, and/or Telemetry experience who can work independently and provide high-quality patient care in a critical access hospital.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable performing charge nurse duties, floating between units when needed, and working nights, every other weekend, and holidays.

- Floating: May be required to float to the Emergency Department (ED) and Maternal and Child Health (MCH) units based on facility needs.
Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for assigned patients.
- Monitor patient conditions and recognize changes requiring timely intervention.
- Deliver safe, evidence-based care to MedSurg, PCU, and Telemetry patients within the nurse's competencies.
- Perform charge nurse duties and work independently when assigned.
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare professionals.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation using Cerner.
- Float to other hospital units as needed, within appropriate competency and facility requirements.
- Participate in quarterly departmental education sessions.
- Follow hospital policies, patient safety standards, and infection prevention protocols.
Qualifications
- Current RN license or ability to obtain the required Vermont license upon acceptance, as permitted by facility requirements.
- Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience.
- Recent MedSurg, PCU, and/or Telemetry experience.
- Current ACLS and BLS/BCLS certifications.
- Ability to work independently and perform charge nurse responsibilities.
- Flexibility to work nights, every other weekend, and holidays.
- Willingness to float to other units as required.
Compensation and Schedule
- 36 guaranteed hours per week, subject to the applicable contract terms.
- 12-hour night shifts.
- 13-week contract assignment.
- Overtime eligibility and applicable rates are governed by the contract and relevant wage requirements.
Any additional stipends, benefits, or reimbursements will be confirmed during the offer process. No housing or meal stipends are guaranteed in this posting.
Pay: $2,500.00 - $2,650.00 per week
