Job Title: Senior Staff Accountant
Summary: The Senior Staff Accountant plays a key role in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the financial health of the Association.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists with the month-end close process including preparation and posting of journal entries, general ledger reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, sub-ledger reconciliations, and variance analyses.
- Reconciles daily bank transactions with the general ledger and prepares monthly bank reconciliations, investigates and assists with correcting any errors. Verifies bank adjustments and chargebacks to the appropriate sub-ledger.
- Monitors the condo resale process which includes reviewing status letters to mortgage lenders and verifying property ownership transfers in the Resident Management System.
- Maintains accurate records for accruals, prepaids, and fixed asset ledgers.
- Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.
- Assists the Controller in preparing monthly and year-end financial reports, as well as the annual audit.
- Assists with determining proper handling of financial transactions and approves transactions within designated limits.
- Assists with the implementation of accounting systems and control procedures.
- Assists with creating annual budgets and analyzing budget data for accuracy and reasonableness. Responsible for inputting annual budgets into accounting software and compiling budgets for presentation to management.
- Monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and Association procedures.
- Performs as backup to the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements:

Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Accounting from a four-year college or university is required;
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive accounting/finance experience.
- Experience with CCIOA software is highly preferred.
- CPA license is also a plus.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in using MS Office software, including advanced Excel skills, and a working knowledge of, and experience with, various accounting software systems.
Language:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must, including the ability to read and interpret a variety of documents such as spreadsheets, state statutes, and procedure manuals; as well as the ability to speak effectively with residents and employees of the Association.
