The Inventory Control Technician supports Material Control operations by ensuring accurate, timely movement and system tracking of inventory to meet production demands.
This role is critical to both daily execution and the successful ramp-up of inventory processes. The position emphasizes inventory accuracy, Epicor transaction integrity, and efficient material flow across warehouse and production environments.
Responsibility (Core Activities)
- Execute material requests from production, including picking, staging, and delivery
- Perform inventory transactions in Epicor (issues, transfers, returns, receipts) accurately and in real time
- Verify material accuracy against work orders and pick lists prior to delivery
- Maintain organized inventory locations, including bin accuracy, labeling, and storage compliance
- Conduct cycle counts and assist with physical inventory activities
- Support receiving, stocking, and kitting operations as needed
- Assist in establishing and stabilizing inventory processes
- Monitor material availability and communicate shortages or risks to appropriate teams
- Inventory accuracy at the point of execution (physical and system alignment)
- Timely and accurate Epicor transactions
- Material availability to production without delays caused by controllable material issues
- Identification and escalation of inventory discrepancies
- Adherence to Material Control processes, standards, and safety requirements
- Execution and timing of inventory transactions within Epicor
- Organization and maintenance of assigned inventory locations
- Prioritization of daily picking and material movement based on production needs
- Immediate correction of minor discrepancies (e.g., bin corrections, labeling issues)
- Escalation of issues impacting inventory accuracy or production flow
- Provide feedback on inventory issues, process gaps, and inefficiencies
- Support continuous improvement of material flow and inventory control processes
- Partner with Production, Planning, and Procurement to improve material availability and usage practices
- Contribute to development and standardization of processes for new product introduction
- Review and execute production material requests in a timely manner
- Ensure all materials delivered match system and work order requirements
- Maintain warehouse organization and inventory accuracy standards
- Participate in cycle counts and discrepancy investigations
- Support safe handling and movement of materials within warehouse and production areas
- Assist with general Material Control and warehouse operations as needed
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training or certifications preferred
- 1 years of inventory, warehouse, or material handling experience preferred
- Experience with ERP systems (Epicor strongly preferred)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Basic math and data entry skills
- Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 lbs
- Forklift certification or willingness to obtain
- Warehouse and production facility setting
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting
- Interaction with material handling equipment and production operations
- Detail-oriented with a strong sense of ownership
- Comfortable working in both physical and system-based environments
- Proactive communicator who identifies and escalates issues early
- Adaptable and effective in a fast-paced, evolving environment
- Team-oriented with a continuous improvement mindset
- Inventory accuracy maintained at ≥ 98–99%
- Timely completion of all required Epicor transactions (same shift)
- No production delays due to controllable material handling issues
