Painter
- Ensure that safe work practices are followed and adhered to.
- Check production schedule or shop request list and plan work tasks.
- Cleans, sands and prepares equipment surfaces for painting.
- Applies primer and finish coats with attention to safety, quality and efficiency.
- Mix and match paint, cleans and maintains spray guns and other painting equipment.
- May work with unpleasant or toxic fumes and materials wearing protective and safety equipment.
- Painter spends a substantial portion of the work time spray painting.
- Wear a mask, fresh air breathing apparatus or other safety equipment as needed, when working with paint products emitting hazardous vapors.
- May occasionally be assigned to other duties for training purposes
Experience/Knowledge
- Minimum 3 years’ experience heavy equipment or automotive painting required
- Heavy equipment painting preferred.
- High solid single stage painting also preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency with prep work; sanding, masking, spray painting with industrial enamel and multiple color paint scheme.
- May work at heights of up to 30 feet.
SAFETY
- Proficient in promoting safe and healthy work environment.
- Maintain a safe work environment and ensure that all company safety procedures are followed to include OSHA compliance guidelines applicable to the job duties above.
- Adheres to established company policies and procedures paying special attention to safety regulations.
- Wears personal protective equipment in accordance with training guidelines.
- Separates scrap or waste materials for recycling, reuse, or environmentally sound disposal.
- Maintains cleanliness in designated workspace by practicing 6S principles to reduce safety risks.
- Reports defective materials, equipment, or questionable conditions to the supervisor/manager to identify and correct the root cause.
- Notifies supervisor of product discrepancies or equipment malfunctions.
- Attend a weekly department safety meeting.
