What are the responsibilities and job description for the Custodian position at HEARTSHARE HUMAN SERVICES OF NEW YORK?
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Cleaner to maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic environment for our Day Hab participants, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate will take pride in their work and understand the importance of cleanliness in a Day Habilitation setting.
Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions of Position:
- Clean and sanitize classrooms, bathrooms, hallways, offices, and common areas daily
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust surfaces as needed
- Disinfect high-touch surfaces and ensure all areas meet health and safety standards
- Empty trash bins and dispose of waste properly
- Replenish supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper
- Assist with setup and cleanup for school events or activities
- Report any maintenance issues or safety concerns to the appropriate staff
- Follow cleaning schedules and protocols, including those related to infection control
- Previous cleaning experience preferred, especially in a school or childcare setting.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Knowledge of cleaning products and safe usage practices.
- Physical ability to perform cleaning tasks (e.g., lifting, bending, standing for extended periods)
- Must pass background checks and meet all health and safety requirements.
