What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pipe Layer -Drilling Crew position at Heartland Staffing Solutions?
Position Summary:
We’re hiring a Driller Helper/Operator that will support a drilling crew (geothermal / pipelaying / underground work). This is a hands-on job for someone who is tough, dependable, and ready to work long days outside.
We want a hearty, hard working person who likes to work IN THE MUD!
Responsibilities:
- Handle drill rods/pipe/casing (connect/disconnect, guide into hole)
- Assist the driller during operations and communicate changes
- Help set up and tear down rig, hoses, compressors, pumps
- Support drilling fluids (mud/air) and monitor returns and vibrations
- Excavate trenches using hand tools or heavy equipment
- Align and position pipes according to blueprints and specifications
- Backfill trenches and compact soil to restore surface area
- Connect pipes using various methods such as welding, gluing, or threading
- Test pipes for leaks and make necessary repairs
- Install and repair underground pipelines for water, sewer, and storm drainage systems
Qualifications:
- Physical stamina and strength to perform manual labor in various weather conditions
- Outside in all weather — mud, heat, cold, rain
- Ability to work long hours and overtime
- Strong work ethic dependable (crew job)
- Comfortable working outside in all elements
- Underground utilities / sewer / septic experience = big plus
- Heavy Equipment Operating or drilling experience is a plus, but not required
