Asphalt Milling Machine Operator

We are seeking an experienced Asphalt Milling Machine Operator to join our team. In this role, you will operate and maintain asphalt milling equipment to prepare road surfaces for paving or repairs. The ideal candidate will have experience with milling machines, an understanding of asphalt construction processes, and a commitment to maintaining high-quality and safe operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate asphalt milling machines to remove layers of existing pavement on roads, highways, and other surfaces, ensuring smooth and even surface preparation.
• Set up and calibrate milling machines to ensure proper depth, width, and alignment according to job specifications.
• Interpret project blueprints, work orders, and technical drawings to determine milling operations, machine settings, and material requirements.
• Ensure that the milling machine is maintained in optimal working condition by performing routine inspections and routine maintenance, such as cleaning filters, checking oil levels, and lubricating parts.
• Monitor the milling operation, adjusting the machine as needed to ensure accurate material removal and high-quality results.
• Inspect the milled surface to ensure it meets quality standards and is ready for the next phase of construction or paving.
• Maintain accurate records of job progress, including machine settings, hours worked, and material quantities.
• Follow all safety guidelines and local regulations while operating the equipment and working on construction sites.
• Assist with loading and unloading materials or equipment, as needed.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certification in construction or heavy equipment operation is a plus.
• Proven experience as a Miller Operator, preferably in asphalt milling or similar heavy equipment operation.
• Strong knowledge of asphalt milling operations, including machine operation, setup, and maintenance.
• Experience with various types of milling equipment used in asphalt operations.
• Familiarity with road construction processes, including milling, resurfacing, and paving.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make quick adjustments to ensure efficient operations.
• Strong communication skills to work with the project team and report any issues that arise during operations.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and at night when necessary.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand and operate machinery for extended periods of time.
• Ability to work in outdoor environments with exposure to dust, noise, and varying weather conditions.
• Ability to climb onto equipment, perform routine maintenance checks, and safely work around large machinery.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with specialized asphalt milling machines (e.g., Wirtgen).
