Key Responsibilities
- Deliver expert advice on cultural resource surveys, monitoring, and report preparation, including literature reviews, archival searches, field inventories, and oral history interviews; perform complex evaluations of potential impacts.
- Recommend mitigation strategies, treatment plans, and historic landscape analyses for projects affecting archaeological sites on Indian trust lands, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
- Evaluate applications for Archaeological Resources Protection Act (ARPA) and Antiquities Act permits; provide evidence/data-based recommendations to Federal officials.
- Coordinate with applicants, Tribes, and stakeholders for non-collection survey authorizations; adhere to Government-to-Government protocols and resolve complex issues through collaborative processes.
- Compile national data for BIA reporting; maintain project tracking systems for milestones and deliverables; support preparation of reports, budgets, and schedules.
- Provide thought leadership through technical writing, public outreach, meeting facilitation, and interdisciplinary collaboration to analyze comments and inform cultural resource decision-making.
- Master's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a closely related field.
- At least 4 years of industry experience in cultural resource management, including Section 106 compliance and paleontological investigations.
- Meets Secretary of the Interior Standards under 36 CFR
- 800.2(a)(1).
- Proficiency in NHPA, ARPA, and Tribal consultation processes.
- Experience with remote fieldwork in Alaska; valid driver's license and ability to pass a background investigation required.
