Heartland Animal Hospital is a privately owned general practice in Des Moines where great medicine and a great team go hand in hand. We see dogs, cats, and exotics (excluding birds), and we're looking for a friendly, compassionate, and experienced Client Care Specialist to join us!
Our Client Care Specialists are an important part of the client and patient experience. We're looking for someone who enjoys working with people, genuinely cares about pets and their families, and can stay calm, organized, and professional in a busy veterinary environment.
Previous veterinary medical experience is strongly preferred. Veterinary reception or client service experience is a plus, but we're also looking for someone with the right attitude, communication skills, and willingness to learn.

What You'll Do:
As a Client Care Specialist, you'll help create a warm, welcoming experience for our clients and their pets while providing support to our veterinary team.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Greeting and assisting clients and patients in person
- Answering phones and responding to client communications by phone, email, and text
- Scheduling appointments and coordinating patient visits
- Maintaining accurate electronic medical records
- Processing payments and assisting with client accounts
- Communicating medical information and veterinary recommendations to clients
- Maintaining knowledge of preventative medications, vaccinations, diagnostic services, and common procedures
- Supporting the veterinarians, technicians, and other members of the healthcare team
- Assisting with patient care, including feeding and medication administration, when needed
- Helping keep the hospital clean, organized, and welcoming
We're a busy practice, so no two days are exactly alike. You'll have plenty of opportunities to learn, grow, and become an important part of our team.
Schedule & Compensation
Part-time position — minimum 20 hours per week.
A set schedule will be established each week to allow for consistency and planning.
Starting pay is negotiable based on experience.
And yes, we believe veterinary medicine should leave room for life, too! We're closed on weekends and all major holidays, including Black Friday, Christmas Eve, and the day after Christmas. No boarding or grooming.
