Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. This role is essential in providing support and assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities, ensuring their well-being and enhancing their quality of life at our Day Program. The ideal candidate will have experience in caregiving, patient care, and a strong understanding of the unique needs of those they support.
Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Provide personal care and support in a respectful and dignified manner.
- Monitor clients’ health by observing vital signs and reporting any changes or concerns to the appropriate personnel.
- Implement care plans tailored to individual needs, ensuring adherence to prescribed routines.
- Assist with medication administration as required, following HIPAA guidelines.
- Engage clients in social activities and community integration to promote independence and social skills.
- Maintain a clean and safe living environment by performing light housekeeping tasks.
- Support clients with mobility needs, including the use of assistive devices like Hoyer lifts when necessary.
- Document client progress and any incidents accurately in compliance with organizational policies.
Requirements
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or in a group home setting is preferred.
- Knowledge of first aid, CPR, and patient monitoring techniques is essential.
- Familiarity with Alzheimer’s care, dementia care, memory care, and hospice care practices is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and team members.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when assisting clients as needed.
- Experience in home health or senior care environments is beneficial.
- A background in nursing or social work may be advantageous for this role.
